"Our team is working closely with the relevant authorities and are still optimistic in the ability of the crews to reach Havana safely," the statement continued.
Earlier Relief Mission
Just days before, the Cuban government widely celebrated and officially received a separate vessel that had transported 14 tonnes of donated goods to the island.
That boat, called "a modern Granma" after the boat in which Fidel Castro came back to Cuba to begin the revolution in the 1950s, brought solar panels, drugs, formula milk, cycles and food.

Charity groups and individuals have been at the forefront of efforts to ship essential supplies to Cuba beginning in January, a period which saw a oil sanctions on the country began.
