Automobiles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior official commented the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
