Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Tragic Event

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Changes

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
