Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase like this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
