Adult Swim's Top New Show of 2025 Secures a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

During the fall season, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about observing this endearing family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to help comedy break out of its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially catalyze that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
