A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
